Cacti - Cliestocactus Crested

Cacti - Cliestocactus Crested

Cleistocactus Crested (also known as Cleistocactus strausii f. cristata) is a unique and mesmerizing succulent native to the highlands of Bolivia.Unlike the typical columnar growth of the standard Silver Torch, the crested form exhibits a fascinating fan-like or brain-like appearance due to a genetic mutation.

Key Characteristics:

  • Crested Growth: The most distinctive feature of this cactus is its crested growth, where the normally columnar stem has undergone a mutation, causing it to fan out into a wavy, crest-like shape.

  • Slender, Upright Stems: The individual stems of the crested form are still slender and upright, resembling the original species, but they grow in a congested and contorted manner.

  • White Spines: The stems are densely covered in thin, white spines that give the plant a silvery appearance.

  • Reddish-Orange Flowers: The plant produces beautiful tubular, reddish-orange flowers that bloom during the summer months. These flowers are usually found near the top of the crests.

Growing Conditions:

  • Sunlight:

Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or partial shade.

  • Soil: Requires well-draining soil mix for cacti and succulents.

  • Watering: Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering during the winter dormancy period.

Overall, Cleistocactus Crested is a unique and visually striking succulent that adds a touch of the unusual to any collection. Its crested growth, silvery spines, and vibrant flowers make it a fascinating conversation starter and a rewarding plant to grow.

The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 130mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
