Characteristics:

  • Caudiciform: Develops a swollen trunk (caudex) for water storage, giving it a distinctive, sculptural appearance.

  • Fleshy Leaves: Large, blue-green, succulent leaves.

  • Deciduous: May lose its leaves during dormancy.

  • Bark: Yellow-green bark that peels in whitish sheets.

  • Grape-like Fruits: Produces bunches of red to purplish-black fruits.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Full sun.

  • Water: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Keep drier in winter.

  • Soil: Well-draining succulent or cactus mix.

  • Temperature: Tolerant of high temperatures. Protect from frost.

  • Dormancy: Reduce watering during dormancy.
