Gerradanthus Macrorizus

Gerrardanthus macrorhizus, often called Bigfoot or Bigfoot Plant, is a fascinating caudiciform climber native to southern Africa. It is prized for its large, swollen tuber (caudex) that sits partly above the soil, resembling a sculptural rock or “elephant’s foot.” From this impressive base, slender green vines emerge, producing attractive ivy-like leaves that add a delicate touch to its bold form. In summer, mature plants may produce small, yellowish-orange flowers. This unique plant makes an excellent conversation piece for collectors and lovers of unusual specimens.

Care Tips:

• Soil: Use a very well-draining succulent or caudiciform mix.

• Temperature: Prefers warmth; protect from frost.
